June 29 - potluck picnic, with main dish beef brisket catered by Back 40 Texas, Wendy's house. Guild members only, please. Bring a side dish or dessert. Start time 10 a.m.; an update will be sent before the event. At the picnic: each member will get an ample amount of seed cotton for hand-ginning. Cotton may be hand-dyed using the 'seal-a-meal' technique. At home: cotton will be washed (if dyed) and spun (120-150 yards), rigid heddle looms will be used to make a handtowel using purchased cotton warp yarn.

TREADLES TO THREADS GUILD
May 29, 2019
Thurman Casey Library
President Wendy L. welcomed 1 guest and 18 attendees, and opened the meeting by thanking everybody for all the hard work at Spinning at the Winery. Special thanks to Will and Kate, who always go above and beyond! Even with the date change, there were 125 attendees. Will also thanked everybody for their support. The event is already scheduled for the Saturday of the 3 day Memorial Day weekend in 2020. Special thanks to the 'Coastside Knitters' for their raffle donations. Lisa W. is going to contact someone who may have more information about this mysterious group (ETA: my Boulder Creek contact did not know more about this group - hopefully one of them will read this and get in touch with us!).
This is our last 'official' meeting until August. Potluck picnic is scheduled for June 29 at Wendy's house. Details are in the upcoming meeting events section in the blog.
We welcomed Joan back, who is recovering after breaking her leg while traveling. Joan reported that there are openings in some of the classes at the CNCH conference at Sonoma State due to last minute cancellations.
It was agreed that Wendy would continue as President for another year, with Amy and Carolyn as Program Chairs, Linda B. as Secretary (hope this is OK, as Linda was not present), Pam as Treasurer, and Lisa as blog/newsletter editor.
Wendy is experimenting with wool/linen roving and will report back, we are hoping to have Joan Ruane as a speaker in 2020, those who ordered a EEW Nano should receive their new tiny electric wheels at the end of summer. Roxayn is doing sample knitting for Greenwood Fiber and A Hundred Ravens. Will announced that the model train museum in Crockett is having an open house on June 8-9, and passed around the new USPS Transcontinental Railroad 'Forever' stamps, which are still available at the post office.
Jen Hoover from Davis gave a very interesting presentation on her research and work in the Himachal Pradesh region in India. Links to more information and Jen are posted in this blog.
