 TREADLES TO THREADS GUILD MEETING

MARCH 29, 2023

Unexpected Zoom only 7:00 p.m.

President Vickie M. opened the meeting by Zoom only as the Ygnacio Valley Library was found closed with no prior notification. Vickie thanked those who helped phone members to notify them of the change. 17 attended.

Treasurer Pam M. has received a thank you from Heifer International for the guild’s holiday donation. She said our money is fully covered at the bank, referencing recent banking failures.

Vickie asked for a volunteer for CNCH liaison as we need to belong to this organization for insurance coverage at minimum. The insurance is a king pin in being able to provide workshops, dye days and the Fiber Frolic, which keep our guild functioning. Insurance is often needed to use a meeting room/facility. Member Carol C. volunteered, as she is the liaison for Mother Lode guild currently and can quickly step into Dawn’s place. We wish Dawn the best in her new position outside the guild.

Zoom master, Pam, sent out the recording link for the Saturday, March 25, 2023, presentation by Shave Em 2 Save Em speaker. Cindra. There were good comments regarding the information contained in the talk. Web site:  https://livestockconservancy.org/get-involved/shave-em-to-save-em/  .  There will be brochures to distribute at the April meeting about the organization. Pam included the link to Kira K Designs from the February meeting.

Forest Home Farm Shearing Day, April 22, 2023, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Wendy emailed everyone information and a release form that is needed to participate. Get forms to Wendy ASAP. Take photos! Members sit and spin and often demonstrate for the public as they wish.

Next meeting is April 26, sharing Shearing day happenings, Sheep Breed Bingo with wonderful prizes and Spin, Knit, Chat. Carol asks anyone who has not given their raffle donations for the Fiber Frolic by then to please bring their donations. The small items will be arranged in baskets for presentation May 27. If absolutely necessary, Carol can accept items until May 19 at her home. Contact her for details on how to get this done. Raffle ready items may be brought the day of the event. Wendy L and Amy are contacting vendors. We are counting on everyone donating whether attending or not. This income is vital to the Guild’s treasury.

The volunteer sign-up list is being circulated and posted online, with hours and jobs needing covered. This is an all-day event in Vacaville’s Soul Food Farm. Please sign up for as much help as possible. Doris has worked hard to keep expenditures low, but an attendance number of 115 enthusiasts is the break even point. This evening, members volunteered tables and other hardware to use that day since nothing is provided by the venue including seating.

CNCH:
Outgoing liaison, Dawn, reminds us that Conference registration opens by computer at 9:00 a.m. April 29, 2023. Be prepared!

End of guild year will be at the last business meeting, May 31, 2023. We hope to have a wonderful preliminary report on the Fiber Frolic that will have taken place a few days prior. There may be a stash exchange as well as treats and spin/chat.

Vickie opened nominations for next year’s officers. There were no volunteers for President. Vickie said she is available for an absolute last (third) year as President. Pam accepted another term as Treasurer as did Linda B as Secretary. Sheila P will take over the website from Reba S.

Program suggestions for next year were offered. One suggestion was an open house for prospective new spinners. Another suggestion was to offer a night with us bringing different styles of spinning wheels for new spinners to take for a spin. Vickie noted the other suggestions.

Show and Tell was followed by adjournment at 8:25 p.m.

Next Meeting will be Wednesday, April 26, at the Ygnacio Valley Library
